Starbucks North America CEO Michael Conway has resigned after assuming the position for only six months.
Conway, who started the role in April, will remain with the company until November 30 to assist with the leadership transition. The departure marks the end of his 11 years working at the company.
Prior to the current role, Conway served as group president of international and channel development and president of Starbucks Canada. Before joining Starbucks in 2013, he was global president of McNeil Nutritionals, a division of Johnson & Johnson.
The company will not find a replacement for the North America CEO position but instead announced that Sara Trilling, current North American president, will oversee retail operations across the region.
Conway’s departure follows other significant leadership changes, including the recent appointment of former Chipotle chief Brian Niccol as the new Starbucks CEO.
The company reported a 3 per cent decline in global comparable store sales for the third quarter, extending a 4 per cent decline in the second quarter, driven by reductions in both the US and China.
