Salt Life is returning to brick-and-mortar retail with the opening of a new store on Sanibel Island, Florida, as owner Iconix International revives the brand’s physical store network.
The opening follows Iconix’s acquisition of Salt Life from Delta Apparel out of bankruptcy for $38.74 million in 2024.
After completing the deal, the company shut all 28 Salt Life stores and focused on rebuilding the brand through e-commerce and wholesale.
Iconix said the Sanibel location is the first of several planned store openings as it looks to expand Salt Life’s direct-to-consumer business.
“Sanibel is everything the brand stands for,” said Ryan Sainsott, president of Salt Life.
“It’s a real-deal coastal community from the docks before sunrise to offshore runs in the Gulf. Opening here represents a powerful moment for the Salt Life brand as we re-establish our retail presence and build the next phase of growth.”
Separately, Iconix is expanding Salt Life into the beauty category through a renewed global licensing agreement with Revlon Consumer Products.
The partnership will introduce the brand’s first fragrance collection next year with plans to expand into additional personal care and adjacent beauty categories.
“Salt Life has built a powerful connection with consumers through its authentic, ocean-inspired lifestyle,” said Bob Galvin, CEO of Iconix International.
“Fragrance is a natural extension of that connection, and Revlon is the ideal partner to bring this next chapter to life on a global scale.”
Founded in 2003 as a coastal apparel brand, Salt Life has since grown into a lifestyle label spanning apparel, swimwear, accessories, home goods, hospitality, and beverages.
