Nordstrom has partnered with FAO Schwarz, bringing products from the iconic New York City toy store to its department stores and e-commerce site.
Founded in 1862, FAO Schwarz is known for its high-end toys, life-sized stuffed animals, interactive experiences, brand integrations, and games. The chain operates six primary stores in New York, Paris, Milan, Beijing, London and Dublin.
The collaboration will begin this summer with the introduction of special toys, gifts and collectibles on Nordstrom.com.
In addition, FAO Schwarz is opening its second New York City location at the Nordstrom flagship this month.
Beyond New York, the chain will be present in eight Nordstrom doors across the country through ‘The Jewel Box’ – a curated store-within-a-store concept – later this year.
The partnership features brand hallmarks such as Toy Soldiers, Dance-on Pianos, Clock Towers and lifelike plush animals. The selection also expands into categories tailored to the Nordstrom customer, including infant and preschool offerings, alongside exclusive toy launches.
Select locations will feature hands-on experiences, including designing custom handbags, adopting baby dolls, creating make-up kits with customized color palette, and personalizing Brio train collections.
“By bringing our two iconic brands together, we’re creating an engaging experience where shopping becomes playful and full of wonder, while sharing our exclusive products, collaborations, and retail theater through immersive demonstrations and experiences with Nordstrom customers,” said David Niggli, chief merchandising officer at FAO Schwarz.
Tacey Powers, executive VP and general merchandise manager for shoes, kids, and home at Nordstrom, added that the partnership will attract customers of all ages to engage, explore and experience the joy of shopping.
