Toy giant Mattel has confirmed that Steve Totzke, president and chief commercial officer, will step down from his role on May 1, triggering a leadership reshuffle in its global commercial division.
Totzke, a 27-year veteran of Mattel, has overseen the company’s global sales, retail partnerships, and marketing strategy, helping drive growth across its major brands, including Barbie, Hot Wheels, and Fisher-Price. He will remain with Mattel as an executive advisor and president, strategic transition, through the end of the year to support continuity.
“Steve has built a world-class commercial organization, deepened our relationships with retail partners, and expanded our global reach while developing countless team members at Mattel,” said chairman and CEO Ynon Kreiz.
Sanjay Luthra, previously executive VP and MD of EMEA and global direct-to-consumer, has been promoted to lead the global commercial organization.
Luthra will manage all worldwide sales and commercial operations, reporting directly to CEO Ynon Kreiz. He is credited with strengthening Mattel’s retail footprint across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, while boosting digital and omnichannel capabilities.
“Sanjay is a Mattel veteran who has steered EMEA’s transformation to achieve record sales and growth during his tenure, and expanded Mattel’s leadership across the region in key categories,” Kreiz added.
“We look forward to Sanjay’s impact in executing our brand-centric strategy to grow our IP-driven play and family entertainment business.”
