Japanese coffee chain Bread, Espresso & has opened its first outlet in the US under a franchise agreement with HitoBito Inc.

The store, located in Los Angeles, spans 2000sqft and can seat up to 32. It has a modern wood structure inspired by minimalist Japanese style.

Customers can enjoy a variety of Bread, Espresso &’s original items, including the brand’s exclusive “mou” bread, a distinctive cube-shaped loaf recognised for its buttery flavor profile, pillowy inside and crisp outside.

“Our menu brings together classic favorites and new creations that reflect both our Japanese roots and the local flavors of California,” said Sakurai Tadatsugu, executive chef of Bread, Espresso &.

“We’ve enjoyed getting to know our neighbors and exploring the farmers market, and are eager to offer the community a taste of our unique Japanese bakery and cafe experience.”

Founded in 2009 in Omotesando, Tokyo, Bread, Espresso currently has 37 locations across Japan.

South Korean bakery chain Paris Baguette also opened its 200th North American location in Glen Ellyn, Illinois last year, strengthening the brand’s retail footprint across the US.
