Hermes records double-digit growth on the back of China rebound

Luxury fashion group Hermes has reported a 25 per cent increase in turnover in the first half of this year, generating approximately €6.7 billion (US$7.3 billion).

While Japan posted a 26 per cent jump in sales thanks to its local clients, the rest of Asia experienced a 28 per cent growth, continuing its strong momentum in Greater China and throughout the region, particularly in Singapore, Thailand, and South Korea. 

The luxury fashion house has been ramping up its expansion in Mainland China. Earlier this month, the company opened its first physical store in Tianjin

Meanwhile, revenue in the Americas and Europe (excluding France) surged 20 and 22 per cent respectively. 

“To support this growth, we continue to invest in our production capacities, in the expansion of our network, while accelerating job creation and training in all of the group’s metiers,” said Axel Dumas, executive chairman of the group. 

Net profit of €2.2 billion was up 36 per cent year on year.
