GSI Outdoors has appointed outdoor industry veteran Shawn Hostetter as its new CEO, effective immediately.
According to GSI, Hostetter’s background in camp cooking and outdoor hard-goods brands gives him “native understanding” of its core categories and retail customers, thus making him “significantly aligned with the company.”
Hostetter previously spent more than 20 years in key leadership roles at Katadyn Group, including a decade as president of Katadyn North America, before serving as CEO across consumer brands for the last five years.
“When we brought GSI Outdoors back into family ownership, our immediate priority was finding a leader who had both deep operational expertise and an understanding of our brand’s heritage,” said Don Scott, co-founder of GSI Outdoors.
Though Hostetter’s track record speaks for itself, Scott emphasized, “it is his commitment to doing business with integrity that made him the perfect fit.”
In his new role, Hostetter will focus on driving product innovation and expanding GSI’s range of technical outdoor gear, in line with the company’s commitment to deliver reliable supply chains and creative product solutions across the outdoor market.
“We have absolute confidence that Shawn will take GSI to exciting new places while keeping our core values firmly intact,” said Scott.
