Ghirardelli Chocolate Company will launch its first location in New York City on August 6, in the Empire State Building.

The 2758sqft location pays homage to the brand’s founding San Francisco past with a copy of the Ghirardelli marquee sign, blue and gold tiling throughout, and a hot fudge kettle machine.

There is also a Pick & Mix area where consumers can create a take-home selection of Ghirardelli’s chocolate pieces.

“Now anyone who visits the iconic building can put a cherry on top of their experience by enjoying one of our famous sundaes there,” said CEO Joel Burrows.

“Our new store is an important next chapter in our company’s long, rich history.”

The menu at the new Empire State Building location will offer 13 specialty sundaes, as well as a Caramel Waffle Cone Sundae and a new Milk Chocolate Caramel Waffle Cone Square, which will be available nationally this summer.

Ghirardelli, founded in San Francisco in 1852, has complete control over the manufacturing process, from cocoa bean sourcing and production to completed products.
