Duck Donuts CEO Betsy Hamm has resigned as the company carries out layoffs at its headquarters in Pennsylvania.

Hamm joined Duck Donuts in 2016 and became the company’s CEO in April 2021.

“From 20 locations to nearly 200, spanning new markets and countries, it has been an extraordinary ride,” she said in a LinkedIn post.

“As with any great story, this one is turning the page to a new chapter for me. I’ll be cheering on the team and the franchisees as they continue to sprinkle happiness around the globe!”

The company recently confirmed layoffs at its corporate headquarters but did not disclose the exact number of jobs.

“Duck Donuts continues to grow and develop as a brand. This requires continuous reallocation of staff, to properly support our franchise system,” a spokesperson wrote in a statement emailed to Nation’s Restaurant News.

There have been reports about store closures in the chain’s system in recent months, including locations in North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, and Florida among others.

Last January, Duck Donuts signed a franchise deal with distributor Bravo Foods Corp to launch into the Philippines.
