Domino’s posts continued sales growth, led by home market

Domino’s Pizza has booked another quarter of higher comparable sales, primarily thanks to improvements in the US market.

The company’s global retail sales for the third quarter rose 5.1 per cent to $4.39 billion. 

US same-store sales increased 3 per cent, including a 3.1 per cent growth from company-owned stores and 3 per cent improvement from franchise stores. International same-store sales (excluding foreign currency impact) edged up 0.8 per cent.

“Our third quarter results once again demonstrated that our Hungry for More strategy is resonating, despite a pressured global marketplace,” said Russell Weiner, Domino’s CEO.

“In our international business, we are on track for our 31st consecutive year of same store sales growth, demonstrating our sustained long-term track record of success,” he added.

On the bottom line, Income from operations increased 5 per cent to $198.8 million, while net income reduced by 0.5 per cent to $146.9 million.

The chain achieved a global net store growth of 72, ending the quarter with more than 21,000 locations.

For the full year, Domino’s expects global retail sales to grow 6 per cent and income from operations to increase 8 per cent.
