Discount retailer Dollar General has made changes to its leadership team, appointing Steve Deckard as EVP of strategy and development and Tracey Herrmann as EVP of store operations, effective immediately.

Deckard previously served as the EVP of store operations and development, where he oversaw various teams, including retail operations, Mi Super Dollar General in Mexico, corporate store operations, asset protection, and real estate. Prior to this, he led the company’s international expansion into Mexico and initiated projects such as Popshelf.

Dollar General CEO Todd Vasos has expressed confidence in Deckard’s extensive knowledge of the business and its operations.

“During Steve’s more than 19 years at Dollar General, his experience has encompassed store operations, asset protection, real estate, financial planning, growth and emerging markets,” said Vasos.

As EVP of store operations, Herrmann will lead Dollar General’s field operations teams responsible for managing the company’s more than 20,000 stores across 48 states.

Most recently, Herrmann served as SVP of store operations, overseeing three divisions of Dollar General stores in the Southeast.

Previously, she managed strategy and operations for the company’s Popshelf stores as SVP of channel innovation and has held multiple senior leadership roles in merchandising, pricing, and operations.

“Tracey’s drive for operational excellence and innovation during her 12-year career at Dollar General will ensure our continuous evolution in an increasingly competitive retail landscape,” Vasos added.

“Her commitment to our mission and dedication to the brand will help deliver the best store experiences for our customers and employees.”
