Dick’s Sporting Goods is expanding its physical retail presence into Colorado as the company records significant revenue growth following its acquisition of Foot Locker last year.

Located within the Larkridge Shopping Center in Thornton, the company’s first ‘House of Sport’ location in Colorado will span 90,000sqft.

According to the operator of Larkridge Shopping Center, the new location is scheduled to open in late fall this year.

The Thornton venue is part of the brand’s physical expansion strategy. The company aims to open 14 House of Sport locations throughout this year and an additional 18 next year, bringing the total specialized store count to 67 by the close of next year.

As of this year, Dick’s Sporting Goods has opened several stores based on this concept in New York, Maryland, and Iowa, with additional projects planned for Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and California.

Dick’s Sporting Goods has updated its full-year financial outlook for this year’s fiscal year fsical after reporting positive initial quarter results characterized by comparable store sales growth.

The company’s core Dick’s Sporting Goods segment recorded a 6 per cent increase in comparable store sales, driven by gains in both transaction volume and average ticket size.

For the Foot Locker segment, sales growth was driven by the ‘Fast Break’ initiative, a retail store remodel program. The layout program scaled to approximately 100 global stores in the first quarter, with operational targets on track to reach 250 locations by this fall.
