Carter’s, a baby and children’s apparel retailer, has named Sharon Price John as its new CEO and president, effective June 15. In addition to her new role, John will also join the company’s board on the same date.
Meanwhile, Richard F Westenberger will be the interim CEO and president of Carter’s while continuing in his positions as CFO and COO.
Before joining Carter’s, John completed a 13-year tenure as CEO and president at Build-A-Bear Workshop. During her time there, she successfully transitioned the business model from primarily physical operations to e-commerce and led the company’s content-driven marketing strategy.
Prior to her role at Build-A-Bear, John held several executive positions, including president of Stride Rite Children’s Group and GM and senior VP of Hasbro’s Global Playskool business. She also worked at Mattel as the VP of international marketing for the Disney business unit and as a director for the Barbie brand.
In addition to the appointment, Douglas C Palladini has stepped down from the CEO and president role, and as a member of the board.
Last year, Carter’s reported a decline in profits amid rising tariff and operating costs.
