ELF Cosmetics and Liquid Death team up once again, launching a limited-edition lip balm collection inspired by goth culture and rock-and-roll.

The release follows the brand’s debut partnership last year, which introduced a black metal-inspired makeup vault called Corpse Paint.

“Normalise the bizarre,” said Liquid Death creative director Andy Pearson, who shared the phrase with ELF Beauty CEO Kory Marchisotto during early brainstorming sessions.

“This collaboration isn’t new, it’s a continuation of what consumers have been asking for at the intersection of our two brands: Bold, bizarre and bonkers,” Marchisotto said.

The latest release marks the return of Glothar, the black metal character introduced in the first campaign, alongside a new jingle blending music, humour and storytelling to promote the collection.

Inspired by Liquid Death’s mountain water and flavoured beverages, the range includes balms themed around Severed Lime, Killer Cola, Doctor Death, Rest in Peach and Sweet Reaper.

Each balm is housed in a miniature replica of a Liquid Death can and contains ELF’s flavoured Squeeze Me lip balm.

“Our original ELF collaboration showed how powerful it can be when two brands with strong points of view and passionate fan bases create something completely unexpected,” added Dan Murphy, SVP of marketing at Liquid Death.

“Sequels are challenging because you need to balance what people loved with something new. This campaign delivers both.”
