Anta is poised to enter the US market with a flagship store in Beverly Hills, California, scheduled to open this September.
The store, currently under construction, marks the Chinese sportswear giant’s first retail presence in the US. Recent sightings of NBA player Kyrie Irving outside the storefront have confirmed speculation that the launch is near.
Globally, Anta ranks third in revenue among sportswear brands, trailing only Nike and Adidas.
Anta Sports generated $9.73 billion in revenue last year, a 13.6 per cent year-on-year increase. When combined with Amer Sports (owned by the group), which reported $5.18 billion in revenue, Anta Group’s total exceeded $13.73 billion.
Anta CEO Xu Yang says the move is part of the brand’s global expansion, with the goal to be “Not to be China’s Nike, but to be the world’s Anta.”
Founded in 1991, Anta is one of China’s largest sportswear companies, designing, manufacturing and selling footwear, apparel and accessories across running, basketball and outdoor categories.
As of early this year, the company operates more than 12,000 stores across mainland China and international markets, including Southeast Asia and Europe.
