American Exchange Group has acquired footwear brand Island Surf Company for an undisclosed amount.

Founded in 2008, Island Surf Company is known for its quality, comfortable footwear infused with “the essence of island living”. The products boast features including comfortable recovery foam, shock-absorbing return energy cushioning, and water-resistant vegan-friendly durable alternatives to leather.

Following the acquisition, Island Surf Company will become a division of White Mountain Footwear, which was bought by American Exchange last year.

Island Surf Company will benefit from White Mountain’s infrastructure, sourcing capabilities, retail partners and leverage its headquarters in Massachusetts to drive growth and expand market presence. Joe O’Brien will continue to lead the brand as CEO to ensure continuity.

“The synergy between White Mountain and Island Surf Company will allow us to broaden the brand’s reach and transform it into a complete lifestyle brand,” said Alen Mamrout, CEO of American Exchange Group.

“There are extensive opportunities to expand Island Surf Company into various categories through strategic licensing, and utilizing our shared resources and expertise to maximize its market impact and appeal,” Mamrout added.
