Walmart has introduced a joint membership plan combining Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus for $120 a year, offering customers access to delivery services, warehouse club benefits, fuel discounts, and streaming entertainment.
The package costs $10 a month, nearly $100 less annually than purchasing the two memberships separately, according to the company.
The combined membership includes delivery from Walmart and Sam’s Club, fuel discounts of up to 10 cents per gallon at participating stations, and 2 per cent Sam’s Cash on eligible purchases. Members can also choose between Peacock Premium and Paramount+ Essential.
The move brings Walmart’s retail and warehouse-club subscriptions together as retailers compete to attract customers through membership benefits and recurring revenue.
Existing Walmart+ subscribers can add Sam’s Club Plus for $22 a year, while eligible Sam’s Club members can upgrade to Sam’s Club Plus for an additional $60 annually and receive Walmart+ as part of the offer. Current Sam’s Club Plus members can activate Walmart+ at no extra cost.
“We’re giving people a reason to expect more from their memberships,” said John Furner, president and CEO of Walmart Inc. “For $120 a year, we’re raising expectations for what a membership can deliver: more money in their pockets and more time to call their own.”
The offer is available through the Walmart and Sam’s Club apps and websites.
