New York-based intimate apparel and activewear retailer Vandale has acquired luxury intimate apparel brand Skin Worldwide.

The deal, whose financial details were not disclosed, was made through Skin Holdings Group, which included several investors, as reported by WWD.

Founded in 2003 by designer Susan Beischel, Skin aims to create “pieces that allow women to truly feel good in their own skin”. The brand offers intimates, sleep, loungewear and clothing with a focus on natural fabrics, simple designs and comfort.

Now part of the Vandale family, Skin continues to evolve while remaining true to its essence,” the brand wrote on its website.

“The acquisition marks a thoughtful new chapter, one that celebrates shared values of craftsmanship, innovation, and conscious design.

“With Vandale’s support, Skin extends its reach while preserving what has always set it apart: a quiet luxury that feels as good as it looks,” it added.

Les Hall, executive vice president, business development at Vandale, told WWD that Beischel was no longer active with the brand at the time of the acquisition, and that none of the employees came along with the deal.

The brand will have a new design team led by Ilene Nachbar, Vandale’s senior VP of design, with new styles expected to be available in March or April.

According to Hall, the design team will adhere to Skin’s distinct brand DNA, ensuring that the transition remains rooted in its signature understated style.
