Rolling bags and carts retailer Zuca has shut down its business after more than 20 years of operations, with management citing a prolonged period of challenging conditions.

The company announced the closure on its website late last month, with the final day of normal operations set for September 30.

“After navigating a prolonged period of challenging business conditions and carefully considering the company’s long-term outlook, we have made the difficult decision to begin an orderly transition of Zuca. This was not an easy decision, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has been a part of the journey,” the announcement reads.

In an October update, the company said that fulfillment operations would be extended through late November (or until stock runs out), following an “overwhelming” response from customers and dealers.

Over the next couple of weeks, the brand will release the last batches of inventory as its warehouse team completes the last physical stock counts.

Founded in 2004 and headquartered in Milpitas, California, Zuca sold patented aluminum-frame rolling bags, carts, as well as travel and sports accessories. The brand was known for its high durability and the unique aluminum exoskeleton frame that can also function as a seat.

The company targeted niche sports and specialized professions, such as figure skating, disc golf, cornhole, and pickleball. It also offered specialized rolling cases for makeup artists and hairstylists and TSA-approved carry-on models for flight crews and business travelers.
