Thai lifestyle brand Jim Thompson has launched online in the US, opening a dedicated own-brand store selling a range of premium fashion lines.

The brand, founded by retired US military intelligence officer Jim Thompson in Thailand in 1951, is renowned for its silk clothing and, in recent years, has expanded into linen and other textiles, building a premium lifestyle brand headquartered in Bangkok.

Jim Thompson has already built a high profile in the design space in the US and Europe, with a range of home furnishings selected by interior designers for numerous luxury residences, hotels, super yachts, hospitality venues, and even private jets. Its fabrics feature in Tiffany, Cartier and Chanel stores and in hotels, including the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai Hawaii, Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, Park Hyatt Paris, and The Savoy London. It has fabric showrooms in Atlanta, New York, London and Paris and a distribution network spanning over 60 countries.

“The introduction of our apparel collection in the US is a natural step forward for Jim Thompson as we continue to expand our international presence,” says Frank Cancelloni, Group CEO.

The collection includes ready-to-wear items for men and women with a “modern casual and resort wear style”.

The brand says its silk, linen and cotton-silk blend materials are selected for relaxed warm weather wear.

“The brand has always been about honoring our Thai heritage while embracing contemporary innovation. We are thrilled to share Thailand’s exceptional craftsmanship in our clothing line, bringing ‘Beyond Silk’ to our American audience,” says Cancelloni.

Many of the items feature cultural prints for which the brand is known – a nod to its Thai heritage. Items include kaftans, fisherman pants and short sleeve shirts that bridge traditional Thai artistry with a contemporary and versatile design.

“Each piece is thoughtfully crafted to transition from daytime leisurewear to stylish evening elegance, perfect for the modern lifestyle,” the brand explains.
