Sprouts Farmers Market has appointed Nick Konat, the current president and COO, as its new CEO, effective January 4, 2027.

On that date, Konat will also join the board of directors. He succeeds Jack Sinclair, who has served as CEO since 2019 and will transition to executive chairman of the board.

As part of the leadership transition, Joe Fortunato, the current board chairman, will become lead independent director at the start of the company’s 2027 fiscal year.

Konat joined Sprouts in March 2022, and has been responsible for operations, marketing, merchandising, supply chain, and innovation functions.

Before joining Sprouts, he was appointed as chief merchandising officer at Petco Health and Wellness Company. He also spent over nine years in executive merchandising roles at Target Corporation and worked for six years at the consultancy firm Accenture.

Sinclair said the internal appointment followed a thorough board search process and results from several years of succession planning.

As CEO, Konat will focus primarily on executing the store expansion strategy and adapting to changing consumer trends.

In July, Sprouts Farmers Market posted higher second-quarter sales as new store openings continued to support growth.
