Pizza chain Sbarro has opened its 700th store – in Peachtree Mall in Columbus, Georgia – taking the number of new locations this year to 52.

The pizza chain plans to open over 100 stores in 2023 after reaching 103 new locations last year.

The franchisees responsible for the Columbus store are Rocco and Anthony Armocida and their family, which now operate 17 Sbarro locations. Rocco and Anthony’s parents were the first franchisees of the pizzeria over 40 years ago.

“In partnership with the Armocidas and all our valued franchisees we have built a legacy of serving handmade, fresh, extra-large slices, topped with high quality ingredients to our valued customers,” said David Karam, CEO at Sbarro.

Founded by Carmela Sbarro in Brooklyn in 1956, Sbarro now operates in more than 30 countries and has opened new markets this year in Colombia, Panama and Denmark.
