Printemps Group has appointed Rémy Baume, who formerly led Zadig&Voltaire, as its new CEO, bringing his proven expertise in retail and brands to the role.

According to WWD, the appointment comes after a months-long leadership search following the departure of former CEO Jean-Marc Bellaiche last September.

Before joining Zadig&Voltaire, Baume served as CEO of children’s wear specialist Kidiliz Group and held leadership roles at Carrefour and LVMH.

“Printemps has been one of the great innovators of modern commerce since its creation,” he said in a statement.

Baume brings a combination of strategic vision, transformation and experience in operational management across competitive and demanding environments, which, according to the supervisory board, positions him as a “major asset in securing sustainable growth for Printemps”.

“Taking the reins of this pioneering institution is a sincere honor. Together with all of its dedicated teams and its magnificent partner brands, we will write a vibrant, human chapter driven by everything our era makes possible,” Baume added.

Printemps, the French luxury department store chain that operates 18 stores across France, last year opened its first US brick-and-mortar store in the heart of New York City’s financial district, with experts weighing its chance of success in the market.
