Amazon has appointed Jason Buechel as VP of Amazon Worldwide Grocery Stores.

Buechel will take on the expanded responsibility while maintaining his current role as CEO of Whole Foods Market. He will join the stores leadership team and report to Worldwide Amazon Stores CEO Doug Herrington.

Buechel has been with Whole Foods Market since 2013. As CEO, he helped the chain achieve record sales growth and expand to more than 535 locations.

Amazon created its Worldwide Grocery Stores organization in 2022 to make grocery shopping simpler, faster, and more affordable for customers. The organization covers the Whole Foods Market, Amazon Fresh, and Amazon Go businesses.

Claire Peters will continue to lead Amazon Fresh, Amazon Go, and Grocery Partnerships. Anand Varadarajan will continue to lead the product and technology for Worldwide Grocery Stores.

Both Peters and Varadarajan will report to Buechel following his new appointment.
