Authentic Brands, Saks to launch global luxury platform

Authentic Brands Group has teamed up with Saks Global to launch a platform for products from both luxury and accessible luxury brands.

The platform – Authentic Luxury Group (ALG) – will feature Authentic-owned brands, including Barneys New York, Judith Leiber Couture, Herve Leger and Vince.

According to the companies, ALG will serve as an incubator for brand growth through new strategic licensing agreements and distribution channels across fashion, retail, digital, hospitality, real estate, art and travel.

Barneys New York will be the first brand positioned for growth with ALG. The platform will combine Authentic’s expertise in global licensing and Saks’s e-commerce experiences and store fleets.

“Building on our complementary strengths, ALG will further cultivate our brands by creating a multifaceted environment that reaches a broader audience through a wide range of offerings and experiences,” said Jamie Salter, chairman and CEO of Authentic.

Hudson’s Bay Company recently created Saks Global as a combination of luxury retailers, including Saks Fifth Avenue and Saks Off 5th. This was in connection with its proposed acquisition of Neiman Marcus Group, which remains subject to customary closing conditions.

Following the closing of this acquisition, Authentic will make a minority investment in Saks Global.
