Designer Brands has launched its first footwear line by Le Tigre, a New York City sportswear brand, targeting to double own-brand sales by 2026.

Le Tigre’s addition, along with the recent purchases of Keds and Topo Athletic, allows Designer Brands to expand its branding capabilities and grow its brand portfolio in the significant athletic and athleisure market.

“The process of envisioning, defining, and bringing the essence of Le Tigre to life in footwear has been an exciting journey. As brand builders, we are focused on creating style and value for our customers powered by our passion for inspiring self-expression,” said Bill Jordan, Designer Brands president.

“Launching the new Le Tigre footwear collection strengthens our Owned Brands portfolio and aligns with our goal of doubling sales of Owned Brands by 2026. This is an opportunity to truly disrupt the footwear marketplace, delivering great design and creating something truly special.”

Each of the six new shoe designs is inspired by the energy of Le Tigre’s New York City heritage and bears the name and spirit of a crucial part of New York, including the Loughlin, the Tompkins, the Midtown and the Baxter.

Designer Brands owns one-third of the Le Tigre brand and will design and manufacture all Le Tigre footwear, which will be distributed primarily through DSW and The Shoe Company direct-to-consumer stores and online platforms, as well as select wholesale accounts and the brand’s website.
