Chipotle Mexican Grill has inked its first development deal in the Middle East, accelerating its worldwide expansion plans.
The company has teamed with international franchise retail operator Alshaya Group and will establish new eateries in Dubai and Kuwait early next year.
“Leveraging Alshaya’s market expertise will enable us to quickly gain access to these vibrant economies,” said chairman and CEO Brian Niccol.
Chipotle, founded in 1993, now owns and operates more than 3200 stores in North America. The brand intends to open 255 additional new sites this year, with a long-term goal of 7000 locations in North America.
The brand also has stores in other countries, including three in Canada, 15 in the UK (with three more launching this summer), six in France, and two in Germany.
