The Cheesecake Factory has reported higher sales and profit for the first quarter, as the chain outperformed the broader sector, according to management.

The company’s revenues rose 5.5 per cent to $978.8 million in the quarter ended March 31. Comparable restaurant sales increased 1.6 per cent.

Net income grew from $32.9 million a year ago to $49.5 million.

David Overton, chairman and CEO, said revenue, margins and earnings finished above expectations during the period.

“Our top-line performance was led by comparable sales growth at The Cheesecake Factory restaurants, which outperformed the broader casual dining industry in the quarter.

“These results, delivered in a competitive environment and despite significant weather-related impacts, reflect the resilient demand for the distinct, high-quality dining experiences we provide our guests and strong affinity for our namesake concept,” Overton added.

During the quarter, the company opened one North Italia, one Flower Child, one FRC restaurant, and one The Cheesecake Factory restaurant.

The company continues to expect to open 26 new restaurants in FY26, including six restaurants under the The Cheesecake Factory banner. It currently operates 371 restaurants in the US and Canada, along with 36 international locations under licensing agreements.
