Hong Kong-based lingerie and fashion label 6ixty8ight has opened its first brick-and-mortar store in the Philippines through a franchise agreement with local fashion firm Suyen Corporation.
Occupying a 168sqm space inside Manila’s shopping complex SM Grand Central, the store is home to 6ixty8ight’s full range of lingerie, complementary sleepwear and everyday staples catering to Asian female customers. The company said the physical launch will be followed by a store and e-commerce rollout in the next five years.
“It’s been more than a year of work so we all felt very accomplished with this important milestone for the company,” said Paulino Moreno de Leon, regional MD at 6ixty8ight Southeast Asia.
The executive said the company is looking for franchise partners in Indonesia, Thailand and other countries to expand in the region.
Founded in 2002 by Erik Ryd, 6ixty8ight has more than 300 stores across China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia. The name ‘6ixty8ight’ derives from Chinese numerology, where the Cantonese pronunciation of the numerals six and eight together bears phonetic similarities to the term ‘Forever Luck.’
Prior to 6ixty8ight, earlier this year, the Philippines fashion conglomerate brought the Chinese affordable luxury brand Urban Revivo to the country in partnership with UR Fashion Group. Suyen Corp is the owner of one of the Philippines’ largest homegrown lifestyle and fashion apparel brands, Bench, which has a presence in more than 600 locations in the country and expanded as far as the UE, the Middle East, and China.
